The Cherry Tree

Contrary to the popular fable, written by Mason Locke Weems and printed in The Life of Washington in 1809, George Washington did not chop down a cherry tree and proclaim he couldn’t tell a lie! However, the fable remains popular and continues to be used as a tool to teach children the reward of telling the truth.

Native to Japan, cherry trees are called “sakura” and cherry blossom flowers are held in the highest esteem.

Lifelong Learners created their own everlasting Cherry Tree, symbolizing love, beauty and happiness.
